More about Louise....

 - Dorset Artist

Louise comes from a creative background and has art running through her veins. Her Gramps was an artist specialising in ceramic clay figures and watercolours. She used to love watching him paint and model when staying there as a child. Louise’s Grandma and mum also made pottery on the wheel and they would all sell their creative works at local craft fairs.

Taking a strong interest in architecture (her dad was a bridge designer), Louise enjoys visiting Oxford where she has been known to sit and draw with her husband outside the Radcliffe Camera building. She is also appreciative of the natural world, creating small pen and watercolours paintings of the beautiful scenery in Dorset, including the pretty thatched cottages of Milton Abbas where she currently lives.

Strawberry Cottage Studio

Louise has always wished of having her own studio - and now her dreams have come true! When moving to the beautiful Dorset village of Milton Abbas, Louise realised that it was the perfect spot to tempt visitors into viewing her artistic creations. Two years of designing, getting planning permission and organising trades people ended in her beautiful studio adjacent to Strawberry Cottage - so Strawberry Cottage Studio was born. The vaulted ceiling and skylight makes the studio feel light and airy, and the muted colours of green , pink and Egyptian cotton provide a calm background for the art work. Together with her husband, they designed and created the long workbench, shelving unit and folding bench, and up-cycled 2 old pieces of furniture, turning them into beautiful, rustic storage units for artists materials and fabric.

Perhaps you might like to pop in to visit Strawberry Cottage Studio during a visit to Dorset, or maybe you live nearby? Louise would love to see you! She holds Official Open Studio days throughout the year and is also often open on impromptu sunny days. Opening by appointment is also an option; just email Louise on lfreirart@gmail.com
